Debbie Burrows

Debbie founded ‘The Debbie Rae School of Dancing’ on passion and community in 1981. Over the years she has built her very own empire with multiple generations walking through her studio doors and making lifelong memories. She has always been well respected within the dance community showing plenty of dedication and love for what she does best. She is an accredited teacher, choreographer, adjudicator and tap examiner with Glenn Wood Tap and has vast education in all facets of performing arts with 45 years experience in the entertainment industry. 

As a youngster, she appeared on television in talent shows ‘Showcase’ and ‘Starquest’ as a tap dancer winning the hearts of many viewers nationwide. She won trips to dance overseas as well as becoming the first tap dancer to perform at the Sydney Opera House at just 11 years old. Debbie later spent a few years performing all over Europe, touring with many theatre shows and living the freelance life before moving back home and opening her studio.

“I have loved teaching kids to dance because I get to watch their growth and confidence bloom. I have been lucky to get the chance to teach hundreds of students from starting out as Tiny Tots and seeing them develop into resilient, respectful, disciplined young adults which is incredibly rewarding work. Their love for dance, determination and pride in their achievements makes everything so worthwhile. I am beyond grateful and feel so privileged by choosing this career”.
